1. “When choosing the right color, place stickers with matching colors at every possible position of the nail so that when it dries, you can easily apply a different color,” says April Castro-Mooney, a Browline Browbar designer. “When it’s time to paint, know that the way you paint your nails could be enough to completely change the look of your nails.”
2. “Use your mirror to assess how much nail polish you can apply,” adds Ariel Janaco, makeup artist and makeup artist. “Be sure to be precise with the style of your pout, and go for longer, wearier nails.”
3. “Try to match the nail polish to the rest of your nails and try to keep the color at the same color level of your nail polish when applying,” says makeup artist Kelley Stewart.
4. “If you think you need to get a manicure but your nails are not red and your nails are not red, which pair of nails do you want to paint?” asks Sandra Preston, a nail technician for Kiss Nails Salon. “If red nails are your color and red nails are on the ‘no-go’ list, then try to get your polish to match your nail colors, nail polish, or nail art that you plan to match.”

7. Go for more edge with rose gold and gold, says makeup artist Peter Anastos. “If you just can’t be denied, the more stunning red will ensure that you don’t go all the way in terms of intensity, but the ease of the nail color in terms of glazing make it more impactful.”
8. If you’re considering a long lasting color like red and black, start with polishes with thick creams or powders to protect your nails. “If you want the blackout effect, use a black sealer and you can get even stronger black,” says Janaco.
9. “Apply color from above your nail, like a mark.com Love Attract Base Coat ($12),” says jewelry designer Lauren Villaña. “Using a color from above your nail will give you more intensity.”
