Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Whether you’re looking to update your boring cursive, or add a splash of color in bold cut-outs, there are countless ways to customize your fingernails. Everyone has a little experimentation on their side; nail art is a way to experiment with your style, and let your personality shine.

We know that you don’t have a ton of time to keep up with the latest nail trends—but when you have the inspiration, there are some simple things you can do to stay current.

The HuffPost Beauty team recently chatted with manicurist Caitlyn Genovese, director of ABC Nails in Boston, about her favorite nail trends of the year. Here are just a few of her picks:

Cleopatra braid

If you have a bob and want to spice it up, braiding your nails is one easy way to give your nails a little color.

“We’ve been into braid-inspired nail designs since the braid trend took off in 2017,” says Genovese. “This season, most of the people taking cues from braid nail trends are actually doing a braid cut-out—whether it’s a braid, a monster braid, or a leopard braid.”

Princess Leia

After all these years, there’s still no shortage of Princess Leia to glom onto.

“Princess Leia’s sense of style is super futuristic and ever-changing, and nails have taken that approach as well,” says Genovese. “The gluing of a berry-toned color onto the nail is definitely a favorite this season.”

But Disney princesses aren’t the only modern Princess we’re inspired by this year. “I’m very into twistings on other classic motifs like throwing in pieces of a cartoon character into the nail,” says Genovese.

Feminine Heart

Genovese and her team are also big fans of graphic cut-outs.

“Cut-outs are a great way to add a pop of color to your nails this season,” she says. “They work well with pop colors like glitter or coral-blues.”

Statue of Liberty

How do you portray Lady Liberty, stat? Simple: cut your nails in a dramatic shape to match her wavy hair.

“I like using a lot of garnets, although it’s easy to throw in other colors too,” says Genovese. “There’s so much pent-up demand for a modern Lady Liberty right now, it just didn’t exist back in the day.”

Aurora Borealis

Nothing says Christmas more than the Aurora Borealis, and these nails show it off beautifully.

“I like to push the envelope with my designs. The key with them is to not be too loud. The closer you can add a color to your nails, the more fun it will be for everyone.”

Pharrell

Another favorite Nail Paint fans? Pharrell, of course.

“This design is probably the most popular — and heavily debated—that we’ve created,” says Genovese. “We always love to get a little playful with our nail art, and this one is no exception.”
