We’ve been obsessing over Gucci’s Guccify collection, Rihanna’s Fenty x Puma cult-favorite PUTDIPI line, and even Vetements’ AW18 BOOMLIST collection, but we’ve got our eyes on another bold trend in nail art: geometric manicures. These nails were on our radar because of their versatility, boldness, and grunge appeal, but we found out that the nail art trends are here to stay.

In addition to incorporating these geometric styles into our existing manicures, there are even a few tools for creating the geometric nails, too. Recently, Julia Carrell of NYC Nails shared that she’s been seeing an influx of DIYers downloading tutorials that are designed to show them how to shape and paint these geometric nails — and we’re super psyched. Below, check out several Instagram images of geometric nails and our favorite tips to help you make your own!

Step 1: Start by priming your nails with a base coat and use a soft brush to apply a thin stroke of pigment.

Step 2: Use scissors to dip a nail-clipper blade into a clear, creamy, liquid to create the geometric shape.

Step 3: Voila! Get the most out of your manicure by painting on a matte color! A good base coat like Essie Bold Nail will cover your color but will still help to keep it matte.

Step 3: Nail polish companies like Essie and CoverGirl both create projects for Pinterest Boards that let you overlay nail-polish colors to form a geometric pattern.
