Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Going to the salon for a manicure can be unpleasant if you don’t feel like spending an hour, let alone $65 to $100. If that’s the case, just know that there are tons of tips and tricks that make your salon visit much less boring and more enjoyable. Now, let’s start with the most important step: choosing your colors! Most people do a color consultation with a manicurist, which can be a drag if you just want to pick a color out without talking about nail varnish colors. But many salons offer color consultation services that should be considered. They can get you the exact shade you want, saving a lot of time. See the steps below.

We spoke with Andy Lehmann, owner of South Bay Associates salon in LA, who has a vision for every client. “Color consultations can be really long,” Andy says. “Sometimes I can spend 15 to 20 minutes with a client.” Andy generally tries to see to it that you give yourself an accurate shade, even if that means not using software or layering products. But if you want to go with a really random color, he has some advice for you. “Don’t buy a color,” he says. “Buy a color palette. The idea is to find a shade that’s not just going to work on your skin tone or your hands. It can make a huge difference.”

Next, we talked to Debbie Sliva, a manicurist who uses her Pencils by Deborah Lippmann Design Collection on most of her clients. We also spoke with Ruthy Benveniste of Scarlett Nails in San Francisco, who goes for “natural-looking” and “true nail colors.” Other favorites include Marli.

They firstly suggested going to an expert like an esthetician or a hair colorist to prep your skin for nail color to be applied, so it’ll be done seamlessly. Ruthy also has an interesting suggestion: lie down on the table so you get used to the material your fingernails wear. “It makes them look more like a hand.” So, lay down with the money in your hand! This, too, will help you get a better manicure, even if you’re just using a natural nail color, such as coral or a nude shade.
