Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Every girl dreams of black manicures, but sometimes the concept can seem like too much effort. Going from a light, simple, girlie polish job to a bright, glittery red isn’t exactly the easiest thing to tackle, and we certainly don’t want to overdo it, either. While the concept of super-short nail wraps remains in fashion, do you need to get your hands dirty for a healthy, bling-free manicure? Here are some expert tips for getting those perfect, sophisticated nails and leaving them looking pristine.

Tone Down

Sure, everything from salt to sun causes the nail pigment to erode, but that isn’t the only reason why your nails aren’t gorgeous. “Nails can actually become darker with going from the natural orange shade to a light strawberry color,” explained Laura Jencke, makeup artist and founder of the Greyhounds beauty brand. So go for a dark, blonde shade to balance things out.

Rinse Nails

Sounds fishy, but it’s a fact. “One must rinse the hands of any normal nail polish in order to remove any shine,” Laura added. The end result will be much brighter nails without any black ringlet (but some nail-friendly oils can be used to get it done). Tip: To do this, all you need to do is using a nail polish remover, such as Aldi Beauty Splash Remover, and spray your hands right away after running them through the water. Now you can place the polish remover in the sink or sprinkle on kitchen spray to make them squeaky clean. Then rinse the polish off, and you’re set.

Stay Cool

Let’s face it, it can be hard to keep warm once you step out of the house, especially since it gets dark quickly and you get out there to go shoe shopping. On that note, Laura suggested: “If it’s Winter, keep this tip in mind: choosing the right heels to choose (light heels or heels with a generous bit of height) will help you stay warmer in winter,” she said.

Blend In Colors

Black nails can really add drama to a look, but not always. “Never cut your nails so long that it looks cool or fake (all too often women go crazy),” said Laura. “Keep your nails short.” If you do want to add some statement colors to your nails, try hydrating base layers before anything else, so that those nails shine in the best possible way. Laura added: “Oil without shimmer is the way to go, and choice of a matte texture is better than powder,” she said.

Cream Nails

If you’re on a budget, or don’t have much of it to go around, cream is definitely the way to go. Bred by the over-the-counter beauty brand Philosophy, black cream might sound like high-priced, fancy stuff, but it’s actually priced in the same range as regular nail polishes. A 25-milliliter tube will set you back around $15. Really put them to use by doing as Laura recommended: “Spritz or spritz some powder so that the skin around the edges is primordially matte.”
