Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Want sparkling, shiny, easy-to-care-for nails this Winter? Here are simple nail inspo from our team at PeopleStyle.

It isn’t just winter that needs a happy manicure. In addition to the cold temps and deep breaths, arctic weather puts a big lid on our manicures. Now more than ever, it’s easier than ever to get a mani that’s easy to maintain, on-trend, and gorgeous. So how do you get one of those? With this easy guide from our favorite PeopleStyle editors!

“Well, winter call for bare toes, long days, and a bright smile! I’m all for a flash of color, bold shapes, and sun-kissed features. But winter is pretty tough on your nail beds!”

—Emily Orofino, Beauty & Fashion Editor

Step 1:

Get a gel manicure. With gel manicures, you don’t have to worry about using traditional nail polish — you can just drop your color on and leave it on! The formula helps your nails stay longer without the need for a top coat. A color that’s on the easy side? Try classic, red nail polish in Jennifer or C’mon Sam.

Also, try a gel polish when you’re on an early work day. It works best if you can leave it on for less than 15 minutes!

Step 2:

“A simple way to update your everyday nail game without toying with big color is to try a fringe finish. Vary your colors depending on where you’re getting your fringe done and this looks great on a dark color. For one client, I color-blocked berry reds and gravel and metallic blues.”

—Michelle | Editorial Assistant

Step 3:

Add baby-blond ombre nail art to your Nails Inc. Collection. This paint is easy and inexpensive to use and you can go more neutral and understated — just add bare nails for color!

Step 4:

“This dry-polish technique really makes your nails shine.”

— Meredith Spelling, Editorial Assistant

Step 5:

“Surely, winter means a lot of snow — but you’ll be able to sneak in some secret DIY Manicure nips and tucks.

First, wipe off the polish and style your tips the same way you would if you just painted nails with your usual products. After that, pat the base coat into the nails with a flat, tapered brush. Then, brush in some powder top coat, and apply a thin layer of a clear top coat over the top coat. To finish off, add a bit of an insulating coat on your nails in this green, botanical pattern, then apply another layer of product. Enjoy your nail and no more pedicures!”
