There are few hairstyles more difficult to pull off than the nude, stained-nude, or even nudes with nails that are pearl-clear. (Wait, something like that happened? You mean like lipstick-nude isn’t too far from a thick head of baby-fine black.) If I told you about an anti-nude nail trend, you’d probably either think of neon nail polish in the vein of Eyeshadow for Nails or think it was the dress that Carrie went to after saving Big on season two of Sex and the City. Instead, let’s talk about precious emeralds.

Indonesia’s NUH-UH is using pure colossally green polycrystalline precious gemstones to make the prettiest, coolest emerald-toned manicures we’ve ever seen. The look was previously attained by adopting a heavy dot/bubble technique with the color, but now there’s a nail polish that replaces the whole clean white nail polish with a collection of 100s of smoky pieces. The polish was invented by Silas Manulis who founded NUH-UH after wanting to create a nail polish that not only offered longer lasting coverage, but also a multiuse look that plays off of your outfit.

Beauty Director Sarah Wasil’s fingers got the sparkly polish treatment on a recent getaway. She explained the nail art to Inside Edition, noting that she was “really, really into the drama and all the ornamental elements.” Also, nails that look like they’re in the middle of an elaborate hand-sewn table cloth just aren’t very chic.
