Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

We all know the drill. Up, up, up! Five minutes in, your head is being battered and the cuticles are reddened. Great job, girl!

Ditto for the white dress you got up to go out for the night. How nice!

Something fun to do is polish your nails — and like everyone knows, it’s best to go for a shade that’s oil-free. Or it would be if you weren’t dying from nails that were coated in coconut oil (a la Khloé Kardashian). So what’s the best place to start? In this episode of Pretty Little Things, Yoni and Allison Bauer stopped by our NY studio to talk all things nail polish.

The Fabulous 7: The Seven Most Unexpected Lipsticks

“Typically, if you’re in the beauty business, you do color and you do fragrance,” Allison says. “But if you’re doing nail polishes, you do a product that’s based on one product.”

“You can then use those building blocks for you to make your own polish, so this month you can use my Poison Ivy from Sephora.”

And yep, her Poison Ivy base coat and top coat will keep your nails alive. It’s sweet, yummy, and easily also be used on your fingers. Bonus: both are vegan.

“If you think about what I’m talking about, anyone who has sensitive skin,” Yoni says. “You want your base coat to last awhile, but you don’t want your top coat to be too thick because then your skin’s going to get irritated. Because it’s a lot of formula and the issue with vegan bases and top coats is, it’s really easy to be hurt by the animal products.”

He then suggests consumers look for vegan bases and top coats.
