Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

There are so many ways to get the look you love without having to spend a fortune.

With so many nail polishes available these days, you can’t help but wonder what goes into the making of a natural-looking manicure. As the branding guy in my office recently told me, natural nail polishes are the most perfect combo of supercool color and super cool colors and every woman should feel beautiful when she steps out in them.

I interviewed expert nail stylist Khulood Zaib about how to get the look at home. Just follow this simple guide, and you’ll be ready to take on the world (thanks, blue skies) with natural polish.

Nothing is more essential than selecting the best color for your nail art. “The overall trend of natural nail color with a healthy dose of boldness is strong at the moment,” Khulood tells me. “You can apply a bright polish to your straight and to your corkscrew cuticles, which gives the nail a positive crisp twist.”

Choose the best color for your cuticles. Find a bright shade that matches your nail color and can be worn for hours.

For a perfect manicure, line your nail a quarter of the way up with a color, and then paint the next quarter across the nail at a 45-degree angle, so that you have sharp nail blades.

To create a more sculptural look, use the same technique and cuticle/ankle-gap tape.

Use a clean, gentle nail polish remover if you are choosing a shade that is a little too harsh on your nail.

Remember: you have to love your nails first, before you love your nail polish. “As we start to grow out and look for more natural nails, it’s important to first love your natural beauty,” Khulood says. That means making sure your nails are properly hydrated with moisturizing gel and then regular oils. That includes conditioning your nail bed with beauty oil or the products that contain ingredients like tea tree, coconut or eucalyptus. Be sure to protect your nails from pollution!

Also, don’t rush to stop putting nail polish on all the time: Just use a nail file and be sure to keep it in the original shape until you’re sure it isn’t hurt. I know it seems horrible, but you only get one manicure, so don’t waste it on unnatural extensions!

It’s the perfect time of year to start covering your entire nail beds and cuticles with dark polish, so use a precise strip brush and not a spool roller. Use a moisturizing nail toner, a fresh coat of varnish to keep your manicure looking fresh, and a quality line of healthy nail lacquers for a lasting, beautifully done manicure.

If you’re going natural or experimenting with a darker polish, Khulood tells me to apply layers with a fine nail file over the edge of your nail bed and nail to avoid any pockmarks or uneven peeling.

If you’re new to manicure, don’t rush to do it all at once! Instead, try starting with small, simple steps, and take a very deep breath and take it slowly!
