With that in mind, we rounded up seven tips to prevent dry, split nails in cold weather, whether you’re all bundled up or traveling.

1. Weatherproof Your Bottoms
Protect your bottoms by taking care of your feet. Stick to sandals for the most part, and if you must wear heels, lengthen the hem with a thin (5.75-mm to 6.25-mm) flatset, as it tends to get dehydrated and won’t get as hot.
2. Slow Down Feet-Worn Shoes
Don’t let busy feet break down! Mixing bare feet up with sandals can really shorten the heel.

3. Add Extra Polish to Shoe Care Products
You can’t put too much polish on your nails, but you can add a layer to the top coat, making the treatment about 0.25 times stronger, thus, drier.
4. Dye Nails with a Serum
Vegetable-based perfumes can go into the nail bed, as these leave your nails with thicker texture.
5. Try Diamond Nail Polish
Diamond polishes won’t skip the varnish that separates and drys quickly. Also, the white center absorbs most of the nail oil to make the nail more moisturized and healthy.
6. Fill Nails With Water
Dip your finger in water then touch your nail bed to the sink. Let the water soak into the nail bed, and watch as your finger starts to change color.
