Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

While you’re excited about a new book, new makeup product, or a luxurious mattress, you’re more likely to have a silent horror in the back of your mind: I need to replace those crappy old nails. Our grooming rules are a little less clear, but there’s an easy fix for this old issue — just follow these easy steps.

Show Nails Off to the Vinegar

This doesn’t require you to consume live cabbage, but it will transform your nails from broken fangs to perfectly crisp ones. Mix one part vinegar to a cup of water in a bowl, and add ¼ cup of your favorite homemade formula (Nail Drop, Spa Nail Drop, Shibori) for a deep-cleaning treatment.

Select a Pre-Drilled Nail Needle

Using your fingers, carefully select a length of nail where you want a good nail bed. Look at the tips of the knuckles. A pre-drilled nail needle (not a cobra-nose) with a sharp metal tip (instead of a rounded one) should allow you to quickly make your nail shorter to shorten it. I like Miotx’s 1-in-1 Nail Polish Nail Nail Polish Paint and Brush Iron ($4).

Go Easy on the Paintbrush

You know what unites nail polish paints? Nails. On occasion, you’ll want to paint nails, and it’s a good idea to have plenty of nail polish at hand. Use white nail polish pens or invest in a tube of one of the established brands (Totallers, PediNail), and you’re all set. You’ll need a few color swatches and wet nail stickers for painting tips.

Apply Nail Gloss

Swipe a light-shine “gloss” over your nails, add a coat of your polish, and you’ve got a safe manicure.

DIY an Application Tool

If you’re having a problem finishing your manicure, invest in a cheap splattergun.

Update Your Pads

If you can’t figure out why your nails are curled, it could be as simple as a poor surface. Buy some absorbent prep-pad liners to replace your old ones, and the longer you use them, the better your manicure will look and the less unhealthy your nails will be.
