Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Founded in 1999, healthy nails are the new ‘perfect hair.’ That, as the saying goes, is what nail expert and product creator Stephanie Brown describes as the under-the-radar but overwhelming top-notch health benefits of a healthy manicure and pedicure.

Not only does she bring those benefits, though, to her very own nail salon, Sidhi Nails & Wellness, but Stephanie goes out of her way to understand and empower her clients to bring the same kind of health to their nails that she equips her clients with at the salon.

What Does Stephanie Know?

Since becoming a certified nail technician, Stephanie’s ongoing efforts have focused on improving the health of nails. “I’ve learned that a healthy nail is one that’s matured. A healthy nail can’ve lost that callus that marks its time,” Stephanie told POPSUGAR. “When that callus is taken off and the nail is restocked, that’s when the blood flow starts flowing, and it triggers the body to start producing collagen. When you’re growing nails, you need to fill them out and add stretch marks because the nail grows out more quickly as it gets older. It also increases the calcium and minerals that the nail needs to make a strong nail — if you do a good job of that, you’re going to increase it’s strength as well. So when you do get older, you want to keep them healthy and grow and create that perfection. Your nail is the new ‘perfect hair.'”

Stephanie wants to help nail enthusiasts get just that for themselves and to promote the healthy, beautiful, and versatile kind of nails you see on just about every model in magazines and TV shows today. If she hadn’t found a way to keep her nails as beautiful as they are now, she believes she would have spent her whole adult life developing horrible habits in order to make them look perfect.

“I had such a great manicure, and I was so happy, but I was so guilty of taking away that happy feeling I got when I wasn’t at work,” Stephanie recalled. “I was like, oh my gosh, everybody’s got perfect nails, and I want to be like them.”

When Stephanie had an epiphany in 2007 about how to use products to promote health of nails, she vowed to try to impart that practice in her salon. Her first move was to ban acrylic nails and replanned her store from a way for clients to pay $20 to have their nails glued on to trim the nail in half — an expensive solution that Stephanie thought would have no effect on how they looked or feel. “I wasn’t there to polish their nails,” she said. “That was so popular, and people thought they’d look better if they had it done. The next step was to completely change the floor, and we did that to get rid of the pollutants that are so bad for the environment.”

Stephanie also works to prevent manicures and pedicures from being used as a way for people to pay for cosmetic surgery. When clients first arrive at her salon, she makes sure to make herself available for clients during manicures to educate them on the medical risks that take place before or after.

Stephanie knows that these steps are the foundation of helping clients maintain health and beauty, since she has some hard-won advice that will really change your life in 2019 and beyond.

“I would advise to cleanse your nail polishes. Get them changed out three times a week. It all starts with salons, where we used to have a different glaze [of nail polish], and we’re shifting it to powders and sugars now, but a lot of people won’t even know when they need to change their polishes,” Stephanie told POPSUGAR. “I would also use an oil to cut off oils that are trapped in your nail polish. That’s super important. Anytime you leave your salon, pay attention to the oil and make sure you change that. Nowadays they have these toner cleansers that will actually get rid of the dead skin that gets trapped and dead skin from the nail polish. You don’t need to see that so your beauty is going to last so much longer.”
