Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Have you ever looked in the mirror and wondered, “Wow, my nails look less healthy?” I know that I have. My skincare game is consistently in the “OK” category, so in theory, I’m more prone to dry, cracked, and cracked fingers and toes.

Don’t get me wrong, I am not a “low maintenance” person, I simply don’t know what I want in a manicure and polish. I’d like it to be dry, to be predictable, to be incredibly finger-and-toe perfect. Many of my nails are super long, most are unbalanced, and there are often scars around my nails and on my fingers.

I spoke with renowned nail-care expert Boots Taylor, founder of the high-end nail salon Target Nails, to get her insider tips for a healthier and more beautiful manicure. Her advice can help you find the right shade for you, as well as help you handle them properly.

Ahead, learn how to care for your nails, how to keep them healthy at-home, and how to moisturize and take care of them before going out in public.

Know Your Nail Needles

“A nail needle should be brushed every four hours,” says Boots. “And remove it by using cotton dipped in acetone and a cotton swab dipped in water.”

Try a Place With Lots of Mirror

“Nails should always be in front of you or behind you,” advises Boots. “I have a framed picture on the vanity door so I always look at my nails!” She advises this as a great way to keep your nails healthy.

Don’t Forget to Care For Your Nails

You can’t just pop your manicure on and let them go, advises Boots. “If you have them in a box, use acetone daily and leave it in overnight, or leave it in the sink overnight and wash it in hot water when you wake up. Another favorite — use a plastic cup and a small sieve on your table and add water, and place your nails in the cup and leave it there overnight. Remember that you should always spend time, not just using product, to care for your nails.”

Spend Some Money

“Nails need time to rest and soak in water to continue the nourishment they receive during the manicure,” explains Boots. “Applying a hydrating topcoat after the manicure will ensure that your nails are healthy.” She likes CoverGirl Lacquer.
