It’s finally on – fashion month is over and that means nail design, a.k.a. that scene of makeup, nails, and makeup, and a.k.a. everything else, is now on. A.K.A. when the places where your hands don’t normally go start affecting how you look in public. First it was… Thighs. Then eye makeup. All the trends have been going in one direction, I mean, how is eyeliner going to stop your isle from getting droopy? Thus began the inevitable nail trend to soon join them all: Ponies and auburn. Those, along with corsets-like black pencil and floral patterns, were some of the standouts for night-time at Paris’ hottest spots.

“You have the classic colors of the ball — the reds and purples and ivories, but also plenty of the darkest colors too. It’s getting dark again,” Nail Fashions National Exhibition director Willa Higginson told ELLE UK. While jade, a key nail color during Paris Fashion Week, is the ‘meeting’ color of the season and classic an ornate look, the coat and colour combo is also a favorite in the UK.

Said Willa: “As for textures, it’s the heavier ones like fine jet black polish with metallic metallic in soft hues that’s really exciting.” We certainly couldn’t agree more with her, considering how we are obsessed with my favorite new bright nail polish shade, Sultry. “Perrier is that bridal material for ‘I had a wonderful wedding!’ Meizu has really embraced a bit of a vintage look this time,” Chelsea Edis, an editor at Fashion Police explained.

On the biannual fashion fashion magazine, they were also inspired by the wild post-party, and while a lot of the work involved came about when editors met with brand advisers, the modeling girls used photos to help shape their designs and bold nail looks. “We couldn’t make [a pony] look like a fluffy horse, so we couldn’t get super tacky — which probably looked really bratty.” “However, in terms of fashion coverage, a lot of real time pieces came from the models’ own initiative as they’d go on to shoot the individual looks,” editor-in-chief Tamara Eastwood revealed to ELLE UK. “Often, the nail look was part of the overall look, the makeup would work with it, so they were most definitely influencing it from the moment they were photographed.” Wow, all those Instagram snapshots of the models having fun definitely had an effect on how each of the nail styles played on the red carpet.

For now, the beauty editors at ELLE UK have been sitting in a room filled with DIY Nail polish Kits, experimenting with cool temporary colorings so we can achieve the perfect twinkle, glitter, or pixelated shine. They say some might look exactly like our old Nail Art Posters they grew up with, like everyone does. To get that look, stop writing down your favourite nail color you’re sick of now. Focus on the design and look into the bright patterns everyone is so into. Got your shades to work with? Then don’t forget to start scraping your favorite nail polish from the depths of your kit with a tool like a nail cleaver. Honestly, the possibilities are endless!
