Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Nail technicians were having a very busy day with nail jobs throughout the holiday season — much to their surprise, they were literally attracting puppies to the salon.

Ellen McIntyre (Jackie) and Beverly Wolf (Delia) are the co-owners of Fairbanks Nail Spa and YouBeauty and You Magazine owners. They are two of the most popular nail brands in North America, and they are leading the trend toward nailcare for dogs.

Beverly is a dog owner and has wanted to create something special for her pooch for years. She asked her husband, Jack, to think up a nail care routine for her best friend, Sasha (Dexter), who is also on staff at the spa. While talking about the idea with Jack, Beverly’s husband, David, mentioned the use of your NERF gun to remove dead skin and polish your nails. In her usual glamorous style, Beverly looked up and saw the idea; she knew the brand was perfect for her.

And so, they decided that every new dog they show to clients at the spa had to have a NERF gun attached to their nails. The name of the brand: Yuppies N Nails (of course).

While the little weapon may be the biggest part of her beauty routine for the dog, it’s not her only nail-related activity. Beverly then had Jackie and their spa join her in a fun holiday quiz that included things like what time of year you wear your gloves and where your nails grow on your fingers. After successful completion of the quiz, Jackie and Beverly take dog pictures for dogs with the YouBeauty website.

The interaction with dogs is a lot different than a regular client visit to the spa. Beverly and Jackie train not only the dogs but also the clients. Beverly is one of the most physically fit people you’ll ever meet, and Jackie is five feet tall and just as agile as Beverly. Their physical strength and determination can help clients even when their schedules don’t allow for a face-to-face visit. Jackie recently took a customer’s pug pup on a ride on her snorkel boat, and Beverly even helped remove ice from a water fight between two dogs.

For Jackie, who loves to learn about her client’s pet of choice, she often chooses to do a nail job, or maybe even give an older lady a pedicure, because that’s what a dog would expect. The days are long and there is no rest, and it’s so rewarding when a dog’s love and interest is captured on camera. The efforts that Beverly and Jackie put into their groomers and the professional massage care — no matter how busy their schedules are — are appreciated.

While the same passion is able to bring customers to the spa on a daily basis, the holidays often bring people from out of town. Jackie and Beverly often receive calls for their products and services from out of the country. Jackie and Beverly are also popular in Canada, where they are offered at Christmas markets, toy stores and even at certain restaurants.

Beverly and Jackie are proud to show that there is more to nail care than waxing and acrylics. What are some tips you can share for a healthy and happy life with your pets?
