Just a few minutes of nail maintenance goes a long way. #MakeUpBYegion #NailCareInfo #Beauty,IWoreitBest A post shared by hexedatois (@hexedatois) on May 14, 2018 at 2:03pm PDT

You’d think that long days spent furiously composing emails and staying late at the office would have you looking a little more tired than usual at the end of the day. But the reality is that daily nail care is crucial — to both your look and health — and since my nails are perpetually glazed over, they hardly seem like much of a priority.

I’ve come up with a quick list of our favorite things we do to make a day a little more complete with nail care:

We brush our fingers.

We stuff our feet with ice cubes.

We play with our cuticles to unwind.

We play with our nails to remove day-old nails.

We apply white or clear nail polish when we’re done.

We reach for a few acetone-based products (like polish remover) or bicarbonate of soda.

We take a deep breath.

We remember to use a polish remover daily and a topcoat/varnish remover for night, too.

We pray for cloud cover.

We moisturize.

We remove sticky movie poster-sized nails.

We wake up early to get rid of excess oil and lye.

We treat clippers as part of the daily lineup.

We put on some makeup.

We make sure our hands are dry, comfy, and safe.

We take our glasses off.

We give ourselves low-maintenance manicures.

We call it a beauty day.

We don’t work in nail polish but instead write beauty content about beauty without nails.

We use our nails as a hedge when we go jogging.

We wear tortoise shell nail jewelry.

We put on nail polish and polish remover when we’re craving the look of a topcoat or topcoat removal.

We sleep with nails.

We call it “pegged to the bedhead.”

We walk down stairs with our nails covered.

We “do a nude” the morning after a night of night-out style.

We close the car door on an afternoon spent without pedicures.

We have “I Love My Nails” posted on Instagram.

We keep our digits from curling into an upside-down mess.

We never break the seal.

We floss the night before bed.

We have ritual haircuts on a Saturday morning (skip the blowout, guys!) and take a long soak in a tub of Epsom salt the night before.

We exfoliate our hands and nails.

We put polish remover on a cotton ball and give our feet a blow dry after a big event.

We enjoy the look of winter.

We make sure to sleep with our palms under our arms.

We have normal nail care planned in the works for Spring.

We stretch out our toes on a regular basis.

We remember to change our underwear.

We let our feet and hands get sweaty on a weekly basis.

We wore our shoes out the door today and held them for weeks.

We call our nails whatever we want.

We look forward to the perfect winter morning — when our nails are dry, short, and white.

We make sure to bathe our feet daily.

We put warm, white sugar on our feet for a stress-relief soak.

We keep the nails on our right hand frosty.

We pop a bubble ring with seltzer.

We stretch out our toenails and style them with a sculpted tip.

We put on sandals, heel, and bottom — even if we’ve been inside the past few days.

We never stop touching our nails.

We brush our skin.

We put on lotion and have orgasms.

We brush our fingers in places they don’t belong.

We have a spa day.

We go to the nail salon for a manicure.

We wear skinny jeans and shoes in the morning.

We call our nails what they are and don’t expect them to change.

We don’t check the dust on our hands each morning.

We keep our nails above the flyaway area.

We go on the computer, texting, or scanning Instagram.

We clean our manicures while we’re cleaning our homes.
