Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Nails can become brittle over time if not cared for properly, but those wearing them can take steps to address that. Here are tips for finger nails and molars from an expert.

First, treat every half a finger or molar that has a nail chip, according to Rhys Campbell, who holds a Canadian diploma in interior design. “The most severe crack can sometimes be found right above the nail. If you have one of these, patch it and gently file it while waiting for it to set before trying to form a new nail,” he said.

Two from the experts recommend on their own nails: a UV tooth warmer that doubles as a hand sanitizer. “You can use it as a tooth protector while shaving, you can use it while you have your teeth prepared for brushing in the morning, or you can hold in your hands,” said Lauren Williams, a cosmetologist at the Spruce Street Hair Salon.

Chemical applications with pearls or glitter add to the fun factor. You can get a cute pearllike manicure or short a honey or pearl molar polish.

Algae fillers and fish gels also work for nails and molars, but they need to be used according to consumer recommendations. To get the best results, visit a professional nail technologist, who has the skill to understand your needs and works in pairs so that they may gently remove any nail debris that may be clinging to the nail bed.

Nail gels can be used to fill a nail or protect against chips. Olive oil is a great alternative to nail polish, and can be mixed with various colors, she said. Dark coloring can be added to give nails or teeth their own unique color.

The best nail colors are one color, said Rich Weiss, who owns Rebecca’s Beauty Bar on Manhattan’s Lower East Side. Stained glass colors, colored in a fine mist, work best. But if a manicure session is too costly, Weiss said she likes to apply gel colors in the evening or in the morning, as they cool down.

Once the nail manicure is finished, a professional should apply clear polish. Salons such as Ancora stores and online offer nail polishes with mixed colors, but traditional nail polish is also an option. According to Casi Gabrielli, a cosmetologist at Two Brothers Day Spa on Manhattan’s Lower East Side, a gel manicure requires the same amount of time, but the polish goes on smoother. Gel polish can be used by anyone, no matter their skin tone, she said.

Nail polish is the ideal nail treatment, and salon professionals are getting more and more smart with their manicure techniques. Weiss applies Shellac, “a natural tan that has developed from the grass roots of a vine,” said Joshua Brown, co-founder of MAC Cosmetics. This non-transferable, natural, environmentally friendly product, is a favorite of entrepreneurs, like Debi Wood. Wood owns Sticks Nails and Nails & Glasses; she uses Sticks Nails for manicures and Glass Nails for acrylic nail polish.

Nail polish first requires a trim, and then the installation of clear polish, which can include a clean hairbrush or clean glass at night. The product needs to be applied 24 hours before, so consumers can make sure their nails will be nice and shiny for the next day. “Make sure you’re sure the polish won’t migrate over to the dirty area, and know you can’t replace it,” Gabrielli said.

For teeth, Moore recommended the combination of color and polish, “But not if you have bigger lines. Smaller lines can make a pattern for several years.”
