Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

We all know that a well-designed mani can make our day better. Using graphic nail designs can add a major (though easy) splash of color to our to-do lists. However, we find it hard to get a good design on our toes that reflects our personality.

Not always a problem, there are some tips and tricks you can use to customize your nails that will make them appear to you a lot more appropriate to how you want to look.

1. Just see how your nails look while it’s still dry and cool outside.

“You can do different manicures that look like they have more shape just by taking a split second in the dryer and stretching the nails with a stiff or wet cuticle rub,” said Amy Poon, owner of Sophie’s Nails in NYC.

2. We’ve all been there, and one of the reasons is because the first coat makes them feel greasy — and that’s actually a bad thing, because greasy nails have very thin nail beds. Having the outer layer of the nail last longer gives you more grip and makes your nails feel more beautiful.

3. The amount of color you choose on your toes can really make them stand out. If you think your nails are going to be a nice purple or salmon, do that. You’ll still look like a lil’ princess. If you want to do something a little bit more functional, skip that rainbow and go for something a little more navy or light gray.

4. Start at the tip, and work down and above the cuticle. This will help stretch the nail beds and make your toes look thinner.

5. “It’s best to use a file or foam roller before you begin to cut a pattern on your nails,” said Poon. “This will create a smoother pattern, which will look more natural and reduced in color.”

6. Keep in mind that just because you want to draw upon your existing nail patterns doesn’t mean you have to use a nail art pencil. You can draw lines using pins, an Allen wrench, or a sharpening rod.

7. Need a little help? Put some nail polish remover into the remover pen and buff each nail as you go. It will make your nail pencil lines a little more natural and dry faster.

8. After you’ve developed a good base, try testing out some darker colors like gold, bronze, gray, black, ombre, orange or green.

9. Resist the urge to add too much (or not enough) color, especially on the tips. Achieving a “cool girl” effect is what we’re trying to do, so having too much color on the tips can overpower it.

10. When you’re done, you can use a clear glaze to lift the color so you look like you just stepped out of fall.

So go to work or pick up the kids and happy face with your new look.
