Much like Instagram, FABLife (which came and went earlier this year) was a nail-biting hit with its addictively covetable taste for whole-brain beauty inspiration. Some of our fave beauty bloggers have their own nail-art series called In Between (yes, we did also catch a glimpse of their glamorous lives when they came on the show), and now in 2018 we get the opportunity to invest in series on our favorite site for hair and makeup: We Wish Money Weren’t So Hard.

In a refreshing and charming departure from her usual botanical overtones, a new nail-art series called Unpolished follows the mostly all-white “familial” group of sisters — one of whom goes by Big Shoe — as they tackle their unquenchable passion for all things nail art. In addition to developing their own line of underarm, silk-and-honey body lotion and selling it to New Yorkers as part of their growing salon, the team of colorists take their nail-art road show around NYC in a free-wheeling effort to discover what, precisely, makes New York’s most fun-loving company fun. If you’re a fan of what the ladies of the playground and beyond are up to, you’ll be able to get some majorly funky designs (and a whole lot of professional confidence) every Tuesday at 1 p.m. ET on the Facebook page.

But what makes the series so perfect for beauty junkies is the docu-style style that lets you see the fun side of nail art without just following the nail-loving sisters around all day. In this new series we not only see the latest and greatest nail trends and service offerings — like a photo booth turned nail salon — but you also get to know the exceptional talent behind it all. We spoke with co-director Janna Meyers to get the lowdown on how the collaboration came about and how the sisters’ backgrounds in nail art (“they were obsessed with finding nail art where they didn’t have to pay for it”) helped create this uniquely refreshing take on nail art.
