Picking a hairdresser for your hair or nails can be a daunting task, it can take quite a bit of trial and error for any client to make a good call.

But once you’ve me up your mind which hairdresser is right for you, if you can’t be bothered with the whole of hair and nails, there are a few more important questions you need to answer:

Do you want something done by a professional, someone who wants to provide maximum comfort and high service?

Are you open to ding extras, such as waxing, threing, threing and heat styling?

Are there specialist availability to deal with one or all of the above service areas?

Do you need a haircut, colour, or vacuum?

When does it usually get done?

Is the final product the same as the initial look?

Before parting with your money, you need to do a little research of your own to determine the best choice for you. Here are the most interesting answers from some New York City’s hairdressers:

Barber Darrin Brown – Ritz

The budget-friendly Ritz currently offers a 40% discount off of haircuts with a splash of the complimentary make-up with your appointment. The hairdresser tells us that you can come in, have the whole process done in one day for under $120! No scheduling or prep time necessary, just pull up your chairs, put on your hot tip-waxing mitts and begin the exact same amount of hairspray and other products. Because this means that you get to maintain a pre-owned look of your own design, this offer won’t see long-term gains. It’s also a great way to get rid of excess hair quickly at a fraction of the price of salon-generated product. Even if you don’t make it to Ritz, know that this is a professional budget deal and you can use the Pro Locks service at any time. This “implants” your hair. This means you won’t have to return to the salon each time your hair looks different.

Barber am Karas – Salon

Located in the more expensive Flatiron district, Karas offers two subscription “events”. These are regular twice-a-month appointment packages that cost $34/month (which is $260/year); or membership for $250/year (which is $315/year). Karas tells us that he doesn’t require new clients but is open to accepting some unusual requests, “as long as it makes sense for our client base.” As a professional, he offers various services, including: waxing (referred to by hair gurus as “crowning”) custom patterns (1000-slim jelly candelabra) waxing days, cosmetically plumping and creating new hair lines. At $349/year, it’s by far the most costly options. It may take more time to come to an agreement than hairdressers might previously have. Karas also told us that you may get stuck in a room and only proceed with various highlights for a certain cut, or that you may have difficulty getting a finish you want “because you won’t be able to see everything”. At $300/month, membership is more expensive, but locks you in for a year and allows you to branch out and say goodbye to hair colour.

Shirley Prejkovich – Aveda

Jailhouse Italian stylist Shirley Prejkovich, who has her own nail salon in Union Square, New York, told us that her highest honor is receiving a 5-star rating from her customers. Like Karas, she also feels strongly about “plumbing the depths”, understanding your taste, and integrating it into the whole process. She is particularly close to stars like Jennifer Lopez and is known for being the first celebrity hairstylist to have clients attend her event to get their makeup done.

Professional services are inevitably costlier than you can justify, but there is a point to embracing those little extra extras that make all the difference.

[email protected]

If you ask, she will tell you that the biggest extras should be the start of the appointment.

A professional salon might have run off a few thousand cases of paint, but since all products came with a tool kit, I h no idea what I was doing; one tip would have been to start the appointment early because all those nail care essentials could be strewn everywhere.

She will guide you through the whole process as part of her “Me In a Manageable Form”, always making it easy to look professional.

I was really blown away by how much training and time she put into every single appointment. She’s someone you’d want to leave your makeup at all the time!

Probably my most valuable amenity is that I could leave my makeup behind if I didn’t want to. If you work in an office with all these busy editors, it can be really difficult trying to find someone who takes time to talk with you. It was a joy to sit in an appointment with a professional who genuinely wanted to help you feel good and look good!

If you don’t like waitressing, this is a good time to network with someone who is well versed in salon services. It would be sillyto sit and wait while a hair and makeup artist gets rey for your clients or getting a manicure and pedicure.

So, please, don’t skip over your appointment. It is not always glamorous, but you can always say you spent a couple of hours with someone who actually cares about you. And while they won’t have a lot of polish, they will care about your tastes.

For that fee, you should be willing to give them your time as well. And for good quality vice on beauty, make sure you hire someone like Jennifer Lopez.

Happy beauty week!

A noble career

You should be open to learning every profession and profession of the world because you don’t always get to go to the job fair.

Learning new things without a certain amount of resistance helps you make a better impression. You will find the best talent in a reasonable distance because it doesn’t cost a lot to learn new skills. It will take time and effort, but you won’t regret it!

A commitment

Make sure you choose a salon that gives you a commitment. They will set you up with a technician and also provide monthly feedback on your usage. That’s how you can improve your experience. You don’t always end up with stellar results but a good commitment goes a long way.

At full service, salon owners are more professional than regular salons because they give you tips if you don’t feel like spending them, or follow up with you after your appointment if you are not happy with your experience.

Look for a professional with a good knowledge of formulas, and who knows how to respond to critics who are always rey to say something about their services.

A positive attitude

Look for a salon that is upbeat and positive for customers. You should be free to tell the owner how you enjoyed their services, even if it was good to one, or not as good as the other. All good probers are good with positive feeling towards their customers and are able to deal with complaints effectively.

Their massage therapist, hair stylist, facialist, makeup artist, nail specialist and even manicurist understand that money has nothing to do with the overall ambience.
