“I wanted to ensure that for anyone with an interest in nail art, home formulas would be readily available” — Zoe Katz, founder of ZoeReport.

Since I’ve gotten so many requests for nail tips and products this month, I thought I’d highlight a few of my favorite products so you can save and enjoy the glam look in your own home for little cash or even free. Head to my blog for the full list of favorites!

Ungustrated Johnson’s Essentials Blue and White Polish ($10) — Even when I go to head to head with a professional nail technician for a custom-colored manicure, I can’t get away with just a clean, easy-to-sketch nail color. Because how many of us can afford to have our nails dyed, I rely on these hues to last through the afternoon, evening, night, and even into the night. These and other Johnson’s polishes are now made of organic materials and 40 percent post-consumer recycled plastic. The idea is to cut down on styrofoam, use real plants to repel odors, and because it’s only $10, you get what you pay for in terms of polish you can trust! — Kara Invicta

Rings of Life Nail Polish ($5) — I can’t tell you how many times someone’s told me that “nail polish is expensive,” but I want to point out that having the same trendy shade (i.e. manicure color) delivered straight to your door and made of 100 percent natural ingredients is absolutely bargain. I picked up this bottle of polish from Mozygo this year, and a few months later I’m still using it. It smells absolutely heavenly, and not only do I love that it is “affordable and eco-friendly” but my hands don’t smell of paint or whatever whatever. Works every time. — Elisa Koko

Colors by Allure ($13) — This set is just as fashionable as it is budget-friendly because Allure’s polishes are so versatile — they work on glitter, emeralds, all kinds of colors. They don’t require cutting on your nails, and we haven’t tried any of them so far, but I’m sure they look gorgeous on every skin tone. We used to buy the polish for ourselves, but now we’re making gifts for friends and family and hope to see you out and about in the Fall. — Elise May

Dolcezza $9 — My favorite cost-effective home nail polishes were once created by Dolcezza (the brand started by Zoe Katz), but when I saw the $9 set in their store, I knew I had to try them out. I believe it’s actually cheaper than a manicure — they even came with two clear polish pigments that can be used to create your own false nail details, and now, that same price tag gets you all three of my picks! — Elisa Koko

Rosario Asis Essentials Collection ($13) — Rosario Asis is all about DIY beauty, and I never think twice when I ask her to create a look for me using her nail polishes. The same goes for my friend Jess, who left the polishes to her but gave me the tips so I know exactly what I’m working with. I wouldn’t mind seeing more of her Nail Party collection this season (made out of natural ingredients, of course) or even a larger batch of those Essentials that comes with 12 full bottles in addition to a travel case. Give in and make it a nice, big DIY experience with an affordable, eco-friendly, DIY DIY manicure. — Elisa Koko

It’s summer and I’m no longer going outside, and some of my toes and fingernails are so burnt that my talons are starting to look like they came from a frying pan. It’s obvious I need help with my nails, and one of my favorite skincare brands, Rachel London, offered the perfect solution! This drugstore box set combines every essential you need to look your best, all in one box. Get the full list here! — Karla Armando
