The universal truth about beauty is that those who do things correctly, most often become champions at what they do. Beauty and health seem like twin battles; ladies do everything to get lucky. Right from picking the right color for your skin, to choosing the right mascara to make your lashes stick out with perfect definition, most women seem to agonize over seemingly small things. They take pride in the fact that despite all the fun, fashion, beauty, fashion and food they will do on a day-to-day basis, they will always do what is right at the cost of small things.

For example, when I was younger, I felt bad if I had a really small fingernail, so I used to mix baby powder and nail polish remover and did something amazing on those perfect nails. No more hoarding baby powder that I bought for myself and leftover olive oil. I also learned to use nail polish remover at night. And you know, short nails are so fetching!

“People say ‘Beauty is in the eye of the beholder’, and in fact, only one of those ideas is true. It is not about being perfect. It is about doing what is right and seeing results. Girls will do anything to keep their nails beautiful and their faces youthful, and if you treat them that way, they will do anything for you.

The truth is that people do not realize what a stress our society puts on us. There is just so much to do, so many choices, so many choices that we must make. In order to grow and be taken seriously, we always have to be working hard to give the impression of success. Girls are so insecure. When you are the best at something, you are supposed to be the best at it at everything. We become huge perfectionists and think that our fingernails are no exception to this insanity.

Nails are just nails and we do not take our nails seriously. But it is normal for someone to feel uncomfortable having a finger that is barely the width of the nail bed. Not only is there a part of the nail that won’t grow into the other part of the nail (the cuticle), but it is also virtually impossible to grow your nails out, so it is tough to reach the bigger end of a finger that is so tiny.” — Nail expert Gwen Robinson, OPI

Nails are huge deal and here are 6 ways to grow them back bigger and stronger as a beautiful art.

First, cut a big piece of paper and cut out your length. Next, strip that paper right down to the very edge of your finger, then divide it into two pieces. To fix, use your whole nail to shape each piece. Next, use nail file to clean off any excess polish. Now, you are all set. Keep it simple for this bit of exercise and don’t make sure to straighten your nails — just polish over the scratches.

2. Hair

“The ends of your hair tend to run downward, so you don’t have a lot of height to it. So keep your fingers long and use a regular nail file to give it a healthy and stylish look. Treat it like jewelry, even though it is a relatively simple step. I used to use baby powder and Vaseline to get my cuticles to look healthy. Now, I use IcyHot, to leave a layer of moisturizing spray over the cuticles and my fingers. I also apply a light layer of Colgate Fresh Breath toothpaste to my cuticles to give them a healthier look. It’s better than waxing the top layer!” — Kiehl’s Product Specialist Marija Joga

3. Sweet Sizes

“I use it for two reasons. Number one, even if my feet aren’t in as much condition as usual, they will look better. If I go to go shopping, it makes me feel like I got dressed and will likely make me feel better. Also, I use it on top of eyebrows, too. The second reason is when I have hair in my mouth. I like to have it placed where it is facing upward, so I can brush my teeth with it. Because of the way it is, it is a little easier for me to get in and out of a car door. Also, I feel more relaxed when I have long, flowing hair on top of my head. It feels romantic and classy and soft. Use as little shampoo as possible and be gentle. I don’t recommend hair masks and heavy stuff. Be sure to use a hydrating balm on your feet. Not one that smells of whatever it is, but one that is that hydrating with a bit of SPF in it.” — Top NYC nail salons
