How have you worked out at work this week? Maybe you’re like the majority of us, are doing your best and reaching for your knee-high socks to eat a cup of tea. But then there are those of us who are lucky enough to work in offices with gyms and a whopping range of gym, health and fitness classes at your feet. Whatever your workplace, there’s one thing you can rely on – your nails.

Look inside your shoes and you’ll see that they’re covered in polish. Where does it come from? Most polish brands offer acrylic, chip-resistant nail varnish and real nail polish, although you should also be aware that you may find that you are a sub-standard nail tack. In the beginning, many nail polishes were all done with ferrous oxide as it mimicked nail polish, but once ferrous oxide became more difficult to come by, the nail polish companies have moved on to cheaper top coat suppliers.

Nail polish is a big part of your workplace, whether you are in an office full of people dedicated to nail art or tatty olives with painted nails. But how do you know whether your nails are polished enough? Here’s what to look for:

If you see fake nails, their polish is more likely to be thinner and have darker nail tips

Watch out for ‘foam’ nails, which seem to be me of gel and polish and can grow out of colour faster

You’ll see ‘stickies’ on the nails, which could be gel-painted or even acrylic

Watch out for orange-pink polishes, which could just be plain nail polish, as acrylic nails tend to look more polished

Foamnails look fresher than acrylic nails because they don’t smudge

Make sure you tidy up before work. Even though I am involved in an office job, I still wonder if I am scrubbing well enough.

Take proper notice of your co-workers. Don’t just fling a smile at them without paying attention to what they are saying, and listen to their facial expressions without batting an eyelid.

On your way to work remember to feed your feet, and no one should ever leave their shoes unattended in the car.

Chewing gum will not help you control your blder. Leave yourself time for yoga. All too often this is the way office workers spend their precious ten minute breaks.
