It’s definitely been a big year for nail polish company Popsugar Nails. First they got certified as an ENERGY STAR® product by the EPA, so you could rest assured your nail polish was eco-friendly. Then they unveiled a couple of new lacquers, plus collaborations with Jeremy Scott, W Magazine, and Calla Wahl. And, of course, they ran another successful biodegradable nail polish contest this year! To celebrate, Popsugar Nails collaborated with ELLE UK magazine to share their different methods for making your manicure sustainably-friendly.

“It’s important for me to support beautiful natural beauty,” Elle UK editor-in-chief Hollie Ward told POPSUGAR. “We are grateful to work with Popsugar Nails for the inspiration to highlight sustainable nail tech.”

Since part of the proceeds from every sale goes to The ENERGY STAR Project, it was important for Elle UK to learn about the eco-friendly techniques used by Popsugar Nails. The nail polish comes in various formulations including two green products, and each one had its own special challenges. For their green metallic polish, which is loaded with 3D effects, the line made sure to include aloe and fair-trade ingredients.

Next up for Popsugar Nails was a spring version of their well-known blue gel polish, Ava. Proved to be so popular, the company launched two new colors: Escape to the Blue, which has a low level of toxic mixing agents, and Cinema Beach, which is meant to be used on acrylics. Although these brands don’t sell the three must-have shades of Popsugar Nails – naturalnails.com – Elle UK has included those in the 2017 Summer issue of their magazine.

If you are looking for other tips on sustainable nail polish, Elle UK includes an excerpt from The World’s Greenest Paper, which was published this year.
