It’s no secret that beauty lovers are just as addicted to social media as we are. And whether it’s Instagram, Snapchat, or Snapchat story, we have sure picked up a few tricks and tips along the way. But no matter how many times you find yourself on a third-party mascara page that contains the stuff, there’s no discount on cruelty-free makeup for the sensitive in your life.

But it doesn’t have to be like that. There are an increasing number of companies that are creating cruelty-free cosmetics, and 2017 was a huge year for the trend. Within that year, Calzedonia’s flagship franchise launched its first collection without any ingredients that have been shown to cause long-term harmful health effects, and millennial-driven brand Lucy Don Cosmetics also had its debut cruelty-free line.

Back in May of this year, trends-watching site Coveteur announced its top tips for the vegan, cruelty-free cosmetics industry. After surveying hundreds of brands, it came down to two brands: Calzedonia and Lucy Don Cosmetics.

“Over the past two years, we’ve seen a marked increase in brands giving vegan, cruelty-free cosmetics the green light,” Coveteur’s managing editor Mollie Besh and senior editor Kirsten Kelly said in a statement. “We applaud them for their entrepreneurial leadership, and we’re thrilled to learn that there’s more to come.”
