Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

As someone who has had over 250 manicures (all professionally done), I have definitely been part of the study. From which brand or website best sells gel nails and why, to how to keep your nails healthy, we’d all do well to take an all-inclusive approach. Gel nails is a fast, inexpensive beauty alternative that’s perfect for perfecting the hard-to-reach spots (down the back of your nails, around the corners of your finger, and so on).

Many nail experts and bloggers are fans of flatter, more polished nails and artificial nails, especially as it allows us to go bare or wear less makeup. But each woman is different, and my strong belief is that healthy nails are the key to a flawless makeup application. Thankfully, though everyone will find their own way to add beauty to the face, there are a few tips that are good whether you are going bare, in the comfort of your own home, or hitting the spas.

Avoid Excessive Pads

Even when your nails are shiny, your nails shouldn’t always be dressed in oily, paraffin-based strips or anything petroleum-based. If you have to do these, rinse the strips first before applying and then lightly pat them dry before putting on your makeup. For more than five hours? A compact with a gel option is what you will need.

Removing Wearing Gel Nails

If you are using artificial nail polish, you probably want to minimize your time wearing gel nails on social media. Nail artist and cofounder of Nicole by OPI Gabriela Figueiredo says using nail polish remover in the mirror and applying to only one finger can help combat unwanted discoloration. Another suggestion from Gbrdoreido is to apply two coats of gel polish to cut your nail polish off and then allow the first three days to dry. After this time, you can either apply one coat of gel polish, apply three coats of matte conditioner polish to gel to help with fading, or “let your fingers wear some polish” and then take off the last one nail polish at a time.

Wear Body Paint

If you are self-taught, sometimes a guy or girl out on the town will be showing you around some fancy swag or showing you a place to spend your hard-earned cash. What better way to show your ass than with body paint? That is, if you want to. “It’s wonderful for getting a sense of where you are,” says Figueiredo. Even if you don’t actually try to cover your entire body, but cover yourself in thigh high stockings and long pigtails, it will get you the idea.

Natural Sheets

You don’t need to wear a dress to go out on the town. We should all take note, though, that you want to feel confident and you should want to feel comfortable in your own skin, which means you should be comfortable in your dress. “You don’t want your nails poking out,” says Figueiredo.

Ditch Wet Nails

In comparison to gel nails, seeing wet nails can scare the hell out of you, much like your heart can look like water. You should never wear wet nails, so save that for just once or twice a year when you have had a long day.

Put Cracked Nails on Its Best Foot Forward

Make sure your nail polish isn’t broken or ripped. For any dried-out spots, pack your acrylic gel bottle into a makeup bag or wrinkle basket in case your nail polish doesn’t come off, then pull it out and let it dry overnight to minimize smudging and fading.
