According to our our fellow nail vloggers, the secret to growing long nails is to practice patience. “Take care of your nails and you’ll never lose them,” says Revenge of the Mohawk creator Brett Nava. “It takes about a year to really see results. I find that one-and-a-half to two-inch-long nails take about three months to form. But if you give it more time, the results are amazing.”
Give With Love
If you aren’t the type to keep long nails clipped, there are plenty of nail salons that will trim them off for you. According to Nava, this is a beautiful and surprisingly affordable way to keep your nails healthy. “If you have short nails, it’s possible to avoid wetting them since a small cut from a nail salon trim does not damage them,” he says. “However, you might want to avoid clipping for your long nails until all the rough edges are gone.”

Fresh Pollen? Be Nice
Now that the sun has come out again, it’s time to embrace the magic of the new season by embracing its beauty. Making a healthy out of pollen gives your nails even more impressive sets of rings. “You can paint the top of your fingers or cuticles with flower pollen or astringent honey,” says GemLady owner and celebrity manicurist Nili Lotan. “Over time, you’ll start to see your nails grow out of the cuts you make and start wearing rings on your fingers.”

Head and Nails also offer a service that allows you to create a custom ring from anything you want, from shell powder to silk flowers. “You can even add a picture of your favorite person or character onto your ring using a printable photo or DIY instructions,” says Head. If you have a similar style in mind, Head says to try an everyday style rather than creating something from “exotic materials or jewelry you have to order.” He also recommends making your ring pattern three to four inches in diameter.
Suck in Your Tush
We all love that great classic Alexander McQueen top, but can’t help but notice the revealing bottoms. According to Head, there’s no better way to hide those too-small bottoms than to tweak your rings to make them look like your skin. “You can simply smooth out each part of your ring and cover it with a bit of moisturizer,” says Head. “Then, you can shave your fingers into bite-sized shapes with a capiz Q-tip.” To create the effect, you can use a pair of diamond studs or magnet strips for rings like this one. If you’re really desperate, you can take it a step further and just bite the back off your shoes.
