Established in 1929 as M. Alexander’s State Beauty School, the NYC Board of Regents New York City, and the Empowerment Institute in New York City, New York’s Silky Nails offers education and skill development to women and students, who continue to excel in helping women through the hurdles that are sometimes encountered in the workplace.

I was lucky enough to meet some of the amazing women who work here and ask them why they love the industry so much. One of my favorite quotes came from French marketing professional and CEO of Silky Nails, Aissa Melène. I was also fortunate enough to chat with several beautiful women in the industry, and they each had something to tell me about how, when it comes to health and beauty, their minds and hearts are constantly busy. Here are a few of the tips they gave me for being healthy and feeling beautiful, all while staying focused in your day.

1. Don’t procrastinate on your health and beauty routine.

Numerous women I spoke with described how they simply have not enough time. Although that’s been true for some women for as long as they can remember, many of us are operating with different schedules these days, and between our jobs, running our family, and being busy, there just isn’t time to do what we need to do. Do what you can and make it a priority. This means no more wasting time setting aside appointments at the corner drugstore. These little habits can make a big difference.
