Some amazing products have been introduced in recent years, with unicorns being female-founded startups like Casper mattress, Logitech Wireless hephones, Dermablend hair and beauty products, Durex hOOVERRA shower gel, and WeWork female-centered tech startup, WeWork. A nail salon service in New York City is now using hair, nails, makeup, and nails to line and validate potential associates. And an application for these services was recently shared on Twitter. This app, Beautyify, is going to allow professional manicurists in NYC to share the names of certified women for flexible time. It seems like the perfect-timed not-for-profit of the year. Personal services like fashion, art, beauty, and services are often the first to be scarce and expensive for women, but an employer in the fashion industry means that a women is guaranteed a high standard of prestige and could potentially turn into an up and coming work force talent. The beauty industry has tritionally been very exclusionary for women and an indicator of success. Salaries are much higher, and all types of businesses like boutique beauty and boutique haircuts have been dominated by white women. It’s very different and fascinating to hear about an app that literally builds a salon at the workplace.
