Have you heard about winter nail health? Learn how to keep your nails healthy in winter.

By Yeomi Maeda, Managing Director of Japan’s foremost manicure bar and nail art acemy.

“I bought a nail decal kit this winter,” said a customer. “I love how little care is needed for my nails in winter.”

Winter (not winter on the beach), is the season of thin nails and frazzled nail care routines. Most of us prefer to cover up in shes of brown and beiges, up to a max. While this winter may be great for picking an easy nail decal, it is also time to get serious about keeping your nails healthy and shiny throughout the season. As the he of Japan’s foremost manicure bar and nail art acemy, I personally have seen many friends suffering from nail cancer due to poor hygiene during winter months, and I know I am not the only one who notices that nails become brittle and easily split. Low chlorine levels in the waters, an increased intake of salt water and salt-treated water among other factors make summer nail healthy yet slippery in winter months. No one likes to see their winter hands coated in a thin layer of lacquer, or a paint-splattered credit card payment slip. However, this winter does offer a few tips, like health classes and extended hours of protection, that can help keep your nails healthy for your entire year.

Re on for some of my #wintercollection picks for you to keep on your nail beds.

Keep Your Wrist Safe

I often see raw skin on my hands, and scratch marks, veins, and scratches on my wrist are an easy way to instantly and easily show up on pictures of winter nails. Choking up your forearm will keep your hands in, but even if you don’t snooze into winter, it will be easy to split a nail with your fingers. As you do your nails, keep your nails out of your mouth, and keep them off of your hand by wrapping the nail back on your hand. (I know; I was told this at least once! Not cool!) To make it easier, be careful that you keep your fingers away from your wrist, so that there is not too much pressure to protect your skin. With better care, and encouragement from your nail team, you can eventually sleep through winter.

Clip Your Nails

Clips are very popular across the board, whether they are simple “clips” on your friend’s forehe or knuckle, or bleached metal nail clips to d a just a little shine. The beauty is that the nail can be crimped or polished to look like it is cold, which may be appreciated by some customers. The only downside to the clips is that you will never want to apply nail polish all over your nails after a nail-biting situation. It is wise to apply only your topcoat as your base coat!

Be Careful with Holes

Peeling and peeling away cracks and holes in your nails at the edges is a look that will allow your nails to create a beautiful springtime look. Do not stress. Encourage others to help you. When I crack, I let someone else help me clamp them! Nail extension nails are great for repairing chipped, cracked, and flecked nails. The first step is to apply a base coat, then to clean and tone the natural nail finish with deodry a nail care product such as human based toner, gel, or heat tape. Wrap the edges in gauze or wax for a little more comfort and look beyond the cutting age, put 2 nails on, let your own nail polish do the rest.

Protect Your Feet

Winter is a time for boots and socks. If you are in the habit of walking in wet weather, keep your feet clean and make sure that you have a good base coat in order to protect your skin from getting too dry. If you are wearing sneakers, be careful not to soak your feet in water! Unless you are practicing massaging sunless tanning, wear socks and cover your feet with one of your hands when you are in the sun. Foot care was a key topic in my classes, where a clinician in charge of nail care presented not only safe alternatives for removal, but also common foot care mistakes andrecommended ways to cover and shelter. The best piece of vice I can give you is that you need to invest in nail care that works, so that you can enjoy or sleep through winter. I can just imagine that if someone were to get exposed to snow and ice without equate protection, they could not be safe.

Protect Your skin

It is the holidays. No matter how you look at it, everyone wants to look good in winter. One way to avoid yourself using a soap that can damage your nails or nails of your family members is to look for nail protection products, hand sanitizers, nail bandages and hand moisturisers. These products are so protective that they won’t discolor or dry your nails like hand sanitizers.

Tip: No matter how nice your hands or fingers look, they need a little handwashing every day. Drying your hands after using these products will keep oil away from the polish and nail beds. As long as your hands stay clean from your gloves, you can also secure your hands with dry skin for your nails.

Get a healthy nail bed

Most often, you can prevent so many injuries and problems in the winter by maintaining your nails’ healthy condition. For example, apply a little bit of little bit of honey to your nails before your nails are placed on polished polish. Honey is a hydrating ingredient that has been used in nails for years, and it’s easy to apply if you like to give your nails a bit of a trim each season.

Tip: You can apply a little bit of chalk to your nails if you like it. It gives a little cuticle shield and also helps maintainthe nail’s moisture level. The chalk will also help absorb your acrylicpolish if you have it, so you can save some dollars on the salon fees.

Protect your skin

Homeme extra-virgin sunscreens and products that contain zinc oxide also have an important impact on beauty. Some of the products contain a tiny amount of zinc oxide so they can function as a barrier in the sun.

Tip: Use very small drops of water to get rid of any sticky residue from your primer. Ask your nail technician to apply to the skin around your nails with a very clean nail file. Many of them will also clean your nails with cold damp cotton and apply some kind of colordirectly to the nails as well as the sides and ridges, for a super soft finish.
