Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Guilty as charged. After all, we have a hair stylist, and we’re invited to the same high-end dinner parties that other people get to go to.

We’ve noticed, as most people do, that there are some boundaries about nails — what we’re supposed to wear, what we’re not allowed to wear.

So let’s apply that to hair, skin and nails. Here are 10 ways to begin helping yourself by proactively shaping them into what you desire.

1. Cut them.

Any time you have to get an extension, ask your stylist if it might be wise to cut it at least to the length you want. That way, you can use extensions more frequently if they don’t fit.

As for nails, you’re probably more concerned about an up-do than a hair do, so you can clip the length to where you want the ends. (More on this below.)

2. If you have long fingernails, get groomed nails.

Whether they look short (or if you’re so very delicate that your nails are glued to your fingers, as was the case with poor Natalia Pereira) or long (even if they look shrivelled and calloused), make your nails gentle-groomed. This is a look you don’t wear often, so it’s better to ensure you have long nails than to try and do it yourself. Some manicurists can do this themselves, so ask them if that’s a service they offer.

3. Bring your own nail polish.

Yep, that’s a yes. It’s the only way you can ensure you’re sticking to the rules and bringing a consistent and wearable style.

4. If you’re really attached to your polishes, pick colors you can easily change.

This allows you to have solid pieces that aren’t constantly mismatched. If you choose a shade that fits your eye well and that you would like to stick with, that’s fine. On the other hand, if you want to look like a rainbow in the mall, let it be. That said, let’s remember there’s nothing wrong with hanging on to some solid gems.

5. Eliminate nail polish going from your toes to your hand.

If you have a set of nails, a set of nails can be a safe option. If you have been hopping from toe to toe as you shuffle to a meeting, that’s not a safe alternative.

6. Keep your nails healthy.

Nails live and die by chemicals in your products. What you buy, the vitamins you take and the esthetics you choose have a deep impact on your nails’ health. And if you’re fortunate, you get to play with colors that are protective for you.

You should also invest in an extra line of nail polish for every color your hands go through, and invest in the right tools for your nail depilatory needs.

7. Say “no” to polishes that don’t feel real.

If you really want to stick to this rule, don’t wear any of the following: cupcake nail polish, the U-Haul polish, u-Haul nails, U-Haul appliqués, ginormous nail stickers, Santini nail pieces and any nail stickers that don’t come in a form you can actually remove without ripping.

8. If you’re adamant about having clear nails, get a pedicure.

Underlying allergies of any sort can have a not-inconsiderable effect on your nails. This isn’t true for everybody, but it definitely tends to be true for manicurists. Therefore, if you’re going to insist on putting on nail polish, make sure you have a real pedicure.

9. Don’t let cold weather crush your nail care routine.

Wear gloves, even if you don’t want to. This will not only improve your nail health, but it will also decrease your laundry load by over 85 percent.

10. Go into more detail when it comes to color.

Be clear about the overall idea you’re trying to achieve with your colors. Is it overall softness or something graphic? Color-wise, pairing neutral shades with more colorful accents can really bring out the features of your fingers.
