October 5 is national nail polish day, which means we can (and should) boldly wear our favorite colors. Although we often opt for short, subtle gel or Manic Panic shades to amp up our summer beauty palette, glitter, sparkle, and sparkle is a fine alternative to put some extra oomph into our beauty look this Fall. To make that easier, we’ve put together a few easy DIY nail art ideas you can copy yourself. Each one looks like a custom nail art design, and they’re sure to make your hands glisten as you slip on yet just one more perfectly seasonal beauty trend.

Strawberry Watermelon:

In this classic summer trend, evenly divide a strawberry and grapefruit half across your nails with a tip-to-tip brush. Paint with a nontoxic rose pink gel polish in a gradient color to create an interesting contrast. To make this look even more stunning, give the base coat the square twist and add sharpened pointed nails to complete the look.

Pink Dolphin Blur:

Are your lips envious of your mother’s bronze tresses or the dress your cousin wore to prom? Simply strip a black matte clear polish and paste on a layer of the metallic pink of the bright blue nail polish and finish with top coat. Add a turquoise wing to draw the attention to your lips, and get out the brush and paint, or do the design with the device’s eyeliner tool.

Oven Smart-Oven Fresh:

This mesmerizing icy geometric design involves sprinkling the air with a bit of Nerds, a crescent moon, and a hummingbird into a freshly baked cobblestone with a bright blue hues — combine that with a floral print and you’ve got your very own pop art masterpiece. Once painted, use a handheld brush to tap gently on your nail polish to ensure you get a flawless finished look.
