Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Best Life Tips for Your Bad Color Nails, According to Artist Cherie Berry

Think acrylic nails can be seen through glass windows? Well, sort of — the acrylics used in nail arting and painting are dry on surfaces, but there’s a growing trend where businesses are using bad color nail polishes to stain glass windows. Why? It creates a really immersive experience for customers who can really feel how the paint feels on their fingers.

I had the pleasure of interviewing a master of the art, artist Cherie Berry, about the growing trend and making your own insulating acrylic nail polish.

What originally started this trend?

A “challenge” I started looking into made me realize the technology of acrylics that can be found in the nail polish bottle could transform glass doors and windows, seeing how they could be repainted with gilded polishes without the need to remove the paint every time it cracked.

Also, I recently found out that acrylics offer resilience to solid surfaces that would otherwise be crushed by paint, assuming you were using an authentic product.

Why are bad-color acrylics getting such a bad rap for changing color so easily and drawing unsightly stains?

People see stained glass as damaged to their eye, so anything that does that only leads to sour reports. It’s a scam, but one that continues to get a lot of coverage, with bad-colors claiming it can be done in a room of many colors so you don’t have to wait forever for the paint to dry, thus resulting in a faster visit to the salon.

It’s not just that it can stain glass; it can stain itself. It can also leak sweat and dust in and leave other messes on a glass. Then, instead of painting on the glass, the salon has to remove it to be dry. But, ultimately, acrylics would have to be specially designed to stay dry in full coats, not just the first coat.

Despite this fact, I think it’s all in how you deal with bad colors. It’s best to just remove them as much as possible because in doing so, if there’s a portion of the polish that needs to be removed, that leaves some uncomfortable residue that, worse yet, stains as the surface dries.

Did you have any bad experiences with bad-color acrylics as an artist?

Absolutely. The only reason I’m not one of those who feels bad about it is because I’ve recently seen the technology being brought into vogue. Everyone is coming up with ways to make it easier for clients to remove bad colors as they clean up on their furniture or bathrooms. They’re creating low-solids options to remove it, these products that use UV light for proof, after which you press through and get a fresh coat of paint. Many businesses are even using masks to take out all of the muck or oils when you go to clean it.
