Nails, always a pain. When your pet comes home after a long day, her nails look super bad. Usually, she carries them from the house as they need to be scratched or scratched them off. Maybe your animal’s nails need to be trimmed. Maybe the grow out a bit, and you feel like you need to do something, but money is tight.

I’m here to give you some suggestions to cut your pet’s nails easily and save money. Although it sounds like a simple thing, getting your pet in the habit of trimming or trimming in some way is good for them too. Anytime your pet doesn’t have to reach for something, they will learn it in the long run. Plus, it won’t feel bad to them either.

You might ask why they need to get their nails trimmed so often. Don’t worry, they’re not being ridiculous. As long as they don’t hurt their paws or their paws get sore, they should be fine. Here are some tips to figure out exactly what needs to be done and how much it will cost.

You’ll need some supplies.

For me, I treat my 3 legged dog to the old fashioned paperclip every once in a while. A few stitches and it’s done. Get your animal a simple pair of scissors to cut the nails for them, or use your doggie cutters.

You’ll need a lot of nail clippers.

Whether you’re going for any of the above or just something simple, a giant pair of scissors is a must. So you can use one for clipping, one for cutting, and then one for sharpening the scissors after they’re done. They make a really nice gift.

You’ll need oil, or nail file, scissors, and paper clips.

Oils are a must. If you’re going for the traditional, get one of the high premium kinds. Oils dry quickly so you can even let them dry overnight if needed, and can last hours. Natural nail files are one of my go-to’s, as well. Clip the nail above the toenail and use your scissors to set the pin.

You’ll need some paper clips, scissors, oil, pins, and you can even cut a wet paper clip into a toothpick or come up with a new way to make one.

You might also want to get nail files. Short nails are tough to trim, and I usually use nail files on my legged dog just for cuticles and nail beds. Make sure to read the directions and you should have a tool that you can use your pet with.

Cutting can be dangerous, so don’t do it on your own. You’ll need to sit with your pet and find out how bad their nails are. Once you find out, get a professional service. It’s better to find out sooner rather than later so that they can get help.

Now your pet has a great tool to help them. Nail scissors are a great tool, and a good tip to keep in mind is to keep them clean. They will lose their sharpness and color if they’re not properly trimmed or cleaned.

Follow these simple tips, and your animal will be happy and able to clean their own nails in less time.

Have fun with your pet, and make the process a fun experience. Just don’t hurt them.
