Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

As reported by Newsweek, the nail industry is big business. We’re talking about over $30 billion, which is a lot of polish. But what would a normal person feel when they remember the care and effort it takes to have “beautiful nails”?

According to Kim Yeager, a nail technician at Patricia Jane in Scottsdale, Ariz., everyone would agree that adding to the list of the obvious (love your nails!) is just as important. So here’s a little tidbit of wisdom from Kim herself, courtesy of the International Beauty Association in Geneva, Switzerland. Read on and get some tips to kick off your 2019!

1. Wash Hands

Before the polish touches the nail: Use a washcloth and soap to get the polish off. This will also help remove dead skin cells and sootiness that may be stubborn to get rid of.

2. Eat Healthy

Before your manicure or polish job: If you’re starting a manicure with a clear coat or any metal polish, wait about 30 minutes to 90 minutes between splashes of water and getting your manicure started. Make sure that you take a break after your teeth-cleaning to avoid the transfer of bacteria.

3. Use Nail Tech

It doesn’t matter if you use an electric flash or a scrubber. These tools will gently remove any dead skin cells on your fingers.

4. Avoid Nail-Base Dressing

Do not use base coat on your nails because the drying will result in shiny residue that you may want to avoid later. Instead, use a clear coat. But keep in mind, clear coat coat will give a nice shine, so you can always try to get that shimmer back when it gets warmer.

5. Apply your Nail Polishes

As soon as you get your nails clean, apply polish if you’re painting on base coat. The base layer will act as a barrier to any excess color.

6. Measure Your Nails

Once you get your nails clean, measure each one so you know how much polish to apply.

7. Start Nail Treatments Early

It may be too late in the day, but if you start your nail treatments early, you’ll avoid any messy results.

8. Freeze Your Nails

To keep your polish fresh for a few more days, freeze your nails. Then melt the frozen polish, and your nails should be able to withstand the heat until they can dry.

9. Use Products Correctly

For example, if you’re going to use a warm polish, you should start applying it when the weather is milder, but not so cold that it’s going to give you a horrible chip. And when it comes to polishes, remember to break them in the beginning. Avoid freezing your nail beds to get all that juice that comes off the polish. Keep them firmly connected when you’re using a polish.

10. Store Your Nails Correctly

Use nails to store other cuticles. They will be safe for drying and preserving the cuticles.

11. Removing Polish

If you’re painting on a base coat, begin removing it as soon as you’re ready to apply polish. When you are done, you should be able to adjust the edge without having to worry about any pock marks.

12. Enjoy Your First Day of the New Year

Enjoy the new year, new you, and the days that follow.

13. Shave And Wax Nails

If you’re waxing, you should wait until the wax is completely dry before it’s applied. If you’re shaving, you shouldn’t apply any clippers.

14. Support Your Manicure

Regular manicures can be a great confidence booster! Propping up your manicure the way you want can only increase its polish longevity.
