The rumor is true! It’s officially Spring! It’s also official that people are going to sit, look at nails and then (hopefully) go to the bathroom and apply a full coat of nail polish. If this is how you deal with spring? Good job! You’re a fantastic, inspiring nail tech!

Regardless of whether you don’t have time for an hourlong nail dip or your clients don’t care for a day of nail care, however, having access to top-notch nail polish vice is about as much an investment as your next day’s pedicure. While there are so many tips you can find online (and for a free or very low price), we’ve taken the time to pick out our favorite tips for scoring the best nails every time!

1. Linger Key Oils

Did you know that it’s actually great to continue applying your lacquer or a cuticle treatment after its time in the sun? Loose oils, such as oil based ones, can help lock in the color longer and give less of the soak-away feeling. (So good if you’re feeling frustrated!) You can also rub oil on your tips before you apply your base coat—the moisture created by oil will help keep the polish looking longer and cover more nails. Plus, there are oil based pampering oils available that are even better!

2. Watch the Ingredients

Fresh, fresh color! Most products are loed with high amounts of chemicals. Look for “do not use” and “prohibited” labels, though, especially in brands that make great multiples of their polish. If a product is labeled non-fragrance, it doesn’t smell different when you use it.

3. Revive a Polish with Zhejiang Tea

A word of caution for those who would use scented lotions to d a pop of color to their base coat: it could make your polish seem too unfamiliar and also enhance the sun’s UV rays. If you have a couple extra scented lotions on hand, dab them on your left and right nails and, voila! All-natural style gel!

4. Make a Blending Mix

We all need a bit of color—whether we want it in our polish or not! Blend your base and top coat products together, ensuring to have some color for the night. Plus, if you d just one layer of your base coat and one coat of your top coat, you end up ding a ton of product! So the next time you get to the bathroom with a wet and thin polish, you’ll have the texture and color consistency you’re looking for!

5. Stock a Zinger

Zingers are finally here! If you like the look of a glossy polish, mix it with your binder. You can find glitter, glitter base coats, or glitter top coats on Amazon or online—the combination makes any natural nail look brighter!

6. The Rainbow Effect

There are certain tips for applying pale shes, and then there are the ones to apply shes at the darkest levels of metallics and pastels. Since texture and consistency are big factors in color placement, apply shes at a deep hue to avoid a boring look.

7. Merlot Skincare

If you don’t have a color pencil with you, we recommend purchasing one from a department store like Nordstrom and throwing in a simple gloss or dry gloss to achieve a big bright smile line! It’s also important to make sure your dip dress smells good before you apply your gel coat—dress down your brands with some dried flower to freshen up the smell.

8. Apply Top Coat After You’ve Greased

They say that the best way to really prep your hands is to coat your nails before you start washing them, rather than washing after. It’s because this way, you’ll prevent hands from getting damp and wrinkled, and also give your nails the most uniform color and shine.

9. Use Top Coat When All Else Routinely Works

Now that you know how to apply topcoat, try using the pigment part of your top coat to enhance any color, but be sure to always do so as a rule of thumb, not as a specific thing only. Top coat is non-damaging and doesn’t reveal any blemishes and internal oils.

10. Fluffy Notes

If you want to have fun with your top coat, sprinkle on some fluff and dust. A bolder tone or more dainty note may work best, but the key is to try something different each time.

11. Switch Things Up

When using your top coat, consider using a contrasting she than the base. This helps to highlight the color of your nail.

12. Apply a Top Coat as a Base

The oil transfer used to help normalize any shoddy coat can dissolve as the top coat wears off. Apply a clear top coat when your base is melting into the colors of your nails. It’s ideal to use a high-shine lower tone color.

13. Bypass Step 2

If you don’t have the time to wait for the oil to go to work, you can use this as a shortcut. Apply a clear top coat as a base. Inste of waiting for your colorto begin to transfer to the second coat, pick upthe polish as soon as you reach the point of thickening, and the second coat will do the heavy lifting.

14. Choose Color Wisely

Don’t be afraid to try a gel polish in a wide range of colors. It’s always a good idea to get your paintbrush out before you apply your first base coat to see if it works well.

15. Try Spraying

Spraying your finished base coat onto your fingers gives you more control over color selection. Also, use the same color to prepare the base coat as you would for your top coat.

16. Play It Safe

Never try too many sunscreens at once. If you havechoice, choose lightweight and well-wearing polishes for summers, and burnout in cold months.

#10. Apply your Perfect Match nail polish with a sharp tool (to remove smudges of white) or nail art file, pen, or sponge applicator.

On a cool day, you can apply white base coat with a hot brush. Then, use a skinbrush to apply pastel color in a lighter tone.

Minimal bristles on the brush help avoid wet, glossy nail paint. Plus, they allow more air into the make-up color that comes off your nail color.

#9. Keep the touch-up technique simple.

Use a nail art brush or Q-tips to cure the polish on the artificial nails for maximum longevity.

Cover the top half of the nail with creamy white gel polish. Then, apply gel top coat with soft light cotton swabs on the other half.

Get a wet spray bottle with water and glitter for a more surprising finish.

#8. If you’re responsible for a creative campaign, then your she should be the perfect color to match the rest of your makeup and nails.

We suggest a half-moon applicator for both colors you’re trying to match.

The gel base coat color should be cool for your skin tone.

Use a tissue or hand wipe on the nails to apply top coat to keep your nail lacquer looking as fresh as you do.

#7. Consider gel polish that can be applied instantly.

One of the best-looking nail sets you’ll ever wear is an instant set of gel polish. These days, there are several forms of gel liquid that people like to use:

— Gel formulation: These potions are me by mixing liquid gel with an emulsifying agent, such as quinine, lemon, or limeseed oil. When mixed, the result is a gel polish polish, but it does take longer to dry than tritional polish.

—vanced gel application: These are usually temporary gel lacquer techniques, or even gels that you can finish on a sponge applicator, a Q-tips, or with a fine-mesh nail art pen.

What does it mean when you use all three tactics at once?

New designs. Old designs. The gel polish looks almost like a long, layered gel user.

What makes a gel polish permanent?

No oils needed to cure (like a gel polish), and the color will not wash off or create a patchy finish.

Think of these gel-and-rubber combos as a canvas for your artistic skills.

#6. When you choose gel polish, be sure to use oil-free products with no fragrances or dyes, or you will create neon hues and loud peeps and fur.

Because gel polish is liquid, there is no way to apply only one color at a time, and you can’t paint over in layers, so you need to begin from the get-go.

Plus, if you want to extend the life of your lacquer using dry powder, then it is important to avoid the right products.

You are also best off choosing liquid color that reacts with oil-free nail art pens or loose gel.

When using gel lacquer with a polish brush, you cannot focus on the edges, so you need to immediately cleanse the top. This includes pulling the brush back to avoid any harsh scratches that will later cause problems.

Get a gel beauty brush with three speeds or swirls for softer touch ups.

#5. Decide how you want to wash the polish.

Make sure the stain has been washed away before you worry about replacing the color.

Remember: Alcohol won’t stop a yellow color from bleeding, so keep it in the dish immediately.

Don’t make the call while you’re washing your nail.

For a quick treatment for unsightly smudges or sparkles, apply a sponge applicator with a mild cleanser like Cetaphil.

Then, use glue and cuticle oil
