Growing up, I made a huge effort to dress up my nails to make them look awesome — I knew that something about the look truly worked. I may not have had the best hair and makeup (that would come later), but the way I looked to my five-year-old self meant everything to me and was what people always said I was good at.
Fast-forward to me at 30, and I’ve had five (three more than I should), but it doesn’t matter how many I have because that was then and this is now. And that’s my point! I’m not a fashion stylist (except when it comes to my gorgeous nails), but that’s not to say I can’t learn tips. Many of them are really easy and follow through without being pretentious.
The key is to stay away from overly shiny, slick, and chipped nail polish. Nails are meant to be fun and unique — that’s one of the big reasons we continue to wear them and even plaster them on our other parts.
