Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

When it comes to nail art, it’s safe to say we are all about it. Not only do nail art patterns inspire excitement, they’re also a great way to express your personal style. And let’s be honest, we also love to indulge ourselves and try a new manicure every now and then. This time, I went for a fancy gel manicure. While it can be much more expensive than your typical manicure, at least you can be assured it’s a nice experience (provided that it lasts, of course).

But, since I’ve been on a manicure budget for the past two years, I had to make sure I had a way to get what I wanted without breaking the bank or digging myself into a deep hole. I quickly decided to start using my manicure money on other ways to spend less money: massages, facials, and, oh yeah, fun treats. While gel manicures can be a pricey activity, it’s not all about the price tag. Let’s take a look at my experience and six ways to do it for a better manicure:

1. No Paying For Perfect Skin.

Sure, everyone wants to have their nails appear healthy. In a gel manicure, it’s easy to see that your nails have been manicured without going too far for expensive products like Luxy, which costs about $5 for a cup size. For that tiny amount, you can have beautiful, long, natural looking nails — if you’re willing to go outside of the normal salons. Another benefit to these tiny manicures is that your body can take the brunt of your manicure, instead of the polish, which means you have a better chance of getting normal skin conditions like dryness.

2. Just Say No to Water.

Washing your nails is so much more than just an important part of your manicure routine. You not only need to keep your hands clean from daily microfractures (a nail’s tiny fracturing) but you also need to get rid of the oil that’s floating around in your nails. A clean, dry, healthy nail is going to look much better, too.

3. Get Variety.

If you like to paint your nails, you’ll want to try new designs with the newest nail polish formulas. I like to use different kits (such as DuraPSI’s Formula 0 which is priced at $10), and just incorporate these colors into my existing designs. That way, I don’t end up spending more money than I need to on just one polish.

4. Invest in a Drieskin Nail Polish Set.

These manicures don’t need to be finished at home. You can have a real professional-looking manicure in a private salon. On those occasions, I use this set, which is also cheaper than a full polish color set, to have an uninterrupted manicure.

5. Take it Easy on the Nails.

That means no brushing or manicuring, if at all possible. Natural nails can really absorb and adhere to a nail polish quickly. But if you find yourself getting tired of the endless polish changes, this could be the perfect solution.

6. Mix It Up!

Of course, I can’t mention nails without mentioning a little bit of comedy. I experimented with using not one, but two nail polishes at the same time. The other day, I managed to get two different colors onto my nail beds at the same time!
