Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

Nail polish is the perfect summer go-to. While you can get a manicure in August and a four-day weekend-only manicure in November, there’s a reason they’re a go-to summer treat: The nails provide a quick and inexpensive boost to your body’s circulation, providing heat and circulation from your toes to your heel.

The tips of your toenails can do a great job of removing toxins from your pores and heal skin infections, and they serve as a great energy source. “Nails can boost metabolism,” said Jenna McNeal, co-owner of manicure and pedicure company JNL Hand & Body. “Your skin and nails are the sources of natural blood and sugar that the body uses. Your nails can also assist the body in keeping hydrated.”

With the exception of curing a cuticle condition, people don’t usually get manicures all the time. After all, when you need to apply a bottle of oil for your body to absorb, it probably isn’t the first place you want to be. But considering that 30 percent of all nail polish sales take place in August and September, it’s a big-enough chunk of change for a special manicure to become a summer deal.

To make sure your mani comes back into style over the year, here are a few tips to keep in mind.

1. Get a professional manicure every once in a while. You can’t be too careful when it comes to moisturizing your nails. By getting them done regularly, you can keep from having to take them out for a weekly treatment, McNeal said. If you need a few toenails refilled, make sure to schedule the change at the right time to avoid the dreaded tangles that occur after your nails dry. “For those of us in the busy world of the New York City nail salon, every couple weeks is the day to indulge in a $30 manicure,” McNeal said. “If you need to remove the nail polish for a few hours, do so at the proper time.”

2. If you’re going to use a hot towel, make sure to get as hot as possible, followed by water. There are plenty of nail-soaping apps available on the market, but a simple soaking in hot water and a towel will keep your digits as clean as ever.

3. Treat your toenails with vitamin E. Vitamin E is a great, natural way to keep your skin clean and healthy. The vitamin can help to maintain healthy nails as well. “Vitamin E contains brightening vitamin C and nutrients such as vitamins A, E and K to help keep your skin looking younger,” McNeal said. “Taking a daily supplement with vitamin E is beneficial for your overall beauty.”

4. Block the excess heat with antibacterial makeup. Let your fingers work their magic as you rub in some antibacterial makeup. “In addition to making your fingers or toes look extra irresistible, antibacterial makeup can help keep infections at bay,” McNeal said.

5. If you plan on wearing a clip-on, make sure it’s tapered, so the tip won’t leave your nail standing too far off. “Tape creates an electric current, which can cause damaging damage to your skin,” McNeal said. “This is particularly dangerous for young children. When giving new clips a quick clean, make sure to apply microfiber tissue to the top of the insert so there isn’t a risk of the metal remaining and causing damage.”
