Best Non Toxic Nail Salon in Houston

No one needs to explain this beauty tip to you. The instant you touch your baby pink toenail polish, you’ll know how it happens: It’s love.

As anyone who owns a nail salon knows, it’s not easy getting those perfect, all-white polish jobs: The mom who can’t nail it is the one who will look like a rubber stamp and be late for all the important functions.

Staying hair-and-nail healthy all year round means less stress and a more spontaneous manicure, but knowing these tips can help you get the special nail you’ve always craved.

1. Pick at a small space.

We have two words for you: Cabinet. Storage. Space.

Good news: you can buy everything you need in a central area you’ll actually use, making it easy to nail down the space in your home.

2. Touch your natural nails from the tips to the tips.

If you can’t paint them in white, super-close near-whites can also do the trick (think sand-colored lacquer or, if you prefer, nude-stained look), making your pedicure easy (and more fun!).

3. Don’t wash them the day after.

Some people feel the need to touch up polish with water right after application. That’s not helpful at all; the water just starts to wash the polish off, not getting down to the base layer and preserving the color. Your nail expert can tell you which specific polish lasts longer, but if it’s not a white manicure, don’t worry — the base coat is probably best on the day of application.

4. Try warm water first.

Since you’ll probably be using some of the same tools — irons, spatulas, caps — that normally do your pedicure, it’s worth staying cool for a few minutes before your appointment.

5. Mix your nail polish.

You might be concerned about mess when you choose your polish color, but don’t worry — mixing shades of the same color allows the paint to stay in place more. (And what you don’t do during the manicure will probably prevent problems later.)

6. Cover before you touch up.

If your polish gets chipped (and we think you’re likely to see it more often than not with white polish), there’s no need to clean it right away; you can cover the chipped areas with a clear coat — just like you would for dry-cleaning — and see if it holds, too.

7. Follow it up with some color.

After coating, let the color dry for a bit and if it’s still more or less matte, add a little color, applying regular polishes (we recommend hydrating with oil) and, if it’s a rose color, really lighten it up!

8. Don’t be afraid to re-apply.

It’s perfectly fine to re-apply polish on your nails more than once if it needs more coverage than the first time around. Hold each coat against the inside of your nail to help it feel more snug. Your nail stylist or manicurist can also help with the preparation; they’re really great at keeping things running smoothly.
