I’ll be perfectly honest with you: when my toenails started fading in January of last year, I was baffled. Did it ever occur to me that regular “shelf life” of a cuticle and nail file would mean that all but the longest nails would fall apart by, oh, right now? Turns out, it doesn’t make much sense — and fortunately I was incredibly lucky that I was able to have a fresh set of nails made to replace them before it really caught on. So what’s the best way to get nails back to full size after a cuticle dies off? It starts with quality. Keep these tips in mind the next time you’re in the nail salon!
Prep your nails with a DIY manicure tool like nail files or even a nail scissors. While nails are very porous and can usually handle the pressure of a regular file, if you don’t use the best tool for your nail damage situation, it won’t take long before your cuticles go away all over again.
