About a month ago, I decided to add some peels to my beauty routine. I had already been using a clear polish for ages, and it always felt a little light. Peels are like a full-time job because you’ve got to keep them on, but they do lift your nails up and there’s not a lot of mess to clean up afterward. How my life changed when I tried the jet black Manic Panic Airbrush Nail Polisher ($9, as told to Linda Avey).

I applied it myself because I didn’t want my manicurist to do it. This is something that almost everyone does at least once. The formulas are so quick drying, it’s kind of mind blowing to go from dry to shiny really easily, but there’s just something so sexy about the depths of those tips. I would plan a date and just spend the night with my manicure all over my hands. I could just walk around the house or a nearby park wearing my nails, feeling like a rock star.

The Nail Polish set sets are great for that nighttime scenario because the shades are rich in color, which means you have plenty of opportunity to hang out in your apartment or your bed. Once the polish is dry, it has a honey scent that makes you want to stick the top coat on.

And the polish that my Manic Panic recommends is an attractive black. But, like anything, the initial color fades. As a result, after a week or two, the look I’ve been coveting is suddenly not so striking. I quickly noticed the color fades from base to tip. This isn’t uncommon.

I’m starting to worry that my toes or fingers are tanner than I originally thought. Though they’re mostly just pretty, there’s a little bit of color on top of my fingertips that calls to mind tan. But that’s OK because I still love all of my finger nails, my toes and my toes. Plus, these coats are quite the bargain.

I want to do these nails every week and I’m shocked at how quickly the color fades. — Tiffany Egbert
